Otter Lake Shoreline Erosion Assessment and Mapping

Description: Conducted a detailed lake assessment, which included establishing a baseline inventory of shoreline erosion of the entire water supply reservoir. Northwater established a shoreline ranking system designed to calculate shoreline erosion and to help prioritize reaches for stabilization. The ranking system was also designed to calculate the pollutant load reduction benefits from shoreline stabilization measures that had already been implemented. The assessment was done with a boat, advanced Trimble GPS equipment and ArcPad software.

Existing condition shoreline erosion and pollution loading estimates were calculated for the watershed and a high quality map atlas was produced for the lake to display the results and help guide the client in making cost effective and informed decisions related to lake improvements.
