Synopsis

The City of Tuscola, Illinois, is located in the Embarras River watershed and suffers from persistent flooding due to the flat topography of the area. To address this and in partnership with Clark Dietz Engineering, Northwater developed a grant application and was instrumental in securing $250,000 of funding through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to construct a two-stage ditch for flood storage and attenuation.

Project Description

In partnership with the City of Tuscola and Clark Dietz Engineering, Northwater developed a grant application and was instrumental in securing $250,000 of Section 319 grant funding through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The funding was applied to design and construct an innovative two-stage drainage ditch to mitigate flooding, restore natural areas and improve water quality. Northwater was responsible for engineering and design oversight, water quality modeling, project coordination and administration.
