Northwater performed a lake sediment study to investigate concerns of sediment yields and environmental contamination within the lake sediment. A lake sampling and analysis plan was developed and executed which included percussion and vibra-coring in five separate areas of the lake. Cores up to 6 feet in thickness were collected during winter ice conditions. The analysis included an evaluation of current and historical sediment yield and historical trends of contamination from the contributing watershed. The commission is looking for ways to reduce sediment yield and the accumulation of organic benthos.
